The National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) created National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) to recognize postdocs and their many accomplishments. SOT has nearly 500 postdoctoral members who make meaningful contributions to the Society and toward advancing the science of toxicology and building for the future of the discipline. The 2023 theme for NPAW “International Researchers in America.” SOT is proud that about 20% of its Postdoctoral members come from outside the United States
The SOT Postdoctoral Assembly (PDA) joins with the NPA in focusing attention on the contributions and achievements of postdoctoral scholars. Visit the NPAW 2023 Calendar for events happening at institutions across the country. We hope that all SOT members will take time during National Postdoc Appreciation Week to acknowledge the postdocs in your communities and institutions.
Here are some SOT-focused opportunities for Postdoctoral members and SOT members who work with postdocs:
- The application for the 2024 Best Postdoctoral Publication Award is open. We encourage SOT postdoctoral members to consider applying before the application deadline on October 2.
- Save the date for October 18, 12:00 pm–1:00 pm (US EDT, UTC -4), when the PDA will hold a webinar titled “Postdoc Funding Opportunities: Overview and Perspectives from a Toxicologist.” Join for an overview of postdoc funding opportunities from a wide range of organizations and a personal perspective from an SOT member on applying for and receiving National Institutes of Health funding as a postdoc.
- Read the latest edition of the Post-y. This edition features advice from senior toxicologists on what they wish they had known when they were postdocs.
- Do you want to give a shoutout to an outstanding postdoc with whom you work? Reply to SOT posts about NPAW on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or X (formerly known as Twitter) with pictures, videos, quotes, etc., about your favorite postdoc(s).
Thank you for joining us as we celebrate the SOT postdocs!
