In Memoriam: Timothy David Landry

By Anne Chappelle posted 09-18-2025 04:38 PM

Tim retired as an inhalation toxicologist after a 27-year career at Dow Chemical. He published extensively on the classic chemicals, helping to improve the overall understanding of these high product volume substances.

After retirement, Tim was a Peace Corps volunteer in Mexico at SEMARNAT (Mexicos EPA), where he also helped organize the Central Mexico chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology. While there, Tim supported the Tlaxcala and surrounding Mexico region by publishing and presenting on local environmental concerns. Tlaxcala is also where he met his wife, Evita, and made his home. The Peace Corps experience fueled his strong perspective on the urgency for sustainability in how we use our environment. Tim followed his passion for conservancy as an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the US EPA Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response.

After his stint in DC, he returned to his home in Tlaxcala, where he was found enjoying the outdoors and spending time with his family.

I was lucky to interact with Tim via his extensive work on isocyanates. It was always a struggle to keep up with his long legs as we would explore a bit of the city where our technical meetings were held. He will be missed.

For additional information, please see Tim’s obituary.
