The 2024 British Toxicology Society (BTS) Annual Congress will be held at Spaces at the Spine, Liverpool, L7 3FA, United Kingdom, April 15–17, 2024.
The Congress this year has a rich and varied scientific program, representing the breadth of interests of the BTS membership, supported by workshops and networking events.
The Continuing Education Program, which precedes the main Congress, will discuss endocrine disruption. The main Congress program includes many symposia, oral and poster communications, a presentation on “Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion—What Does That Mean for the BTS?,” a Study Director’s Workshop, our Speciality Sections’ Roundtable Discussions, and Prize/Award Lectures.
The symposia topics include:
- Reprotoxicology, regulatory issues, and developments
- Risk assessment case studies
- Risk assessment of psychedelic drugs
- Advances in persistence and bioaccumulation assessment
- Medicines safety
- Preclinical models and new modalities—a mechanistic focus
The Prize/Award Lectures include:
- A Plenary Lecture on “Air Pollution and Public Health: Emerging Hazards and Improved Understanding of Risk,” presented by Professor Frank Kelly, PhD, FKC, FRSB, FRSC, FMedSci, FIEnvSc, FRCP (Hons) (Imperial College, United Kingdom)
- The Kevin Park (Mid-career) Achievement Award Lecture (recipient to be announced)
- The ASCEPT Invitation Lecture on “When Basic Science Informs Clinical Toxicology Practice,” presented by Darren Roberts, PhD (New South Wales Poisons Information Centre, Australia)
- The BTS Paton Prize Lecture on “Embracing Innovative Toxicological Science to Transform Regulatory Assessments of Chemical Safety” presented by Julia Fentem, PhD, MBE (Unilever, United Kingdom)
