Explore Toxicology: Travel Support Available for Undergraduates to Attend the SOT 65th Annual Meeting

Are you an undergraduate student curious about toxicology or ready to present your research at a national scientific meeting? The SOT 65th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo will be held March 22–25, 2026, in San Diego, California, and its the perfect opportunity to dive into the field, connect with mentors, and build your future in science.

SOT offers two main travel awards for undergraduates, and the application deadline is Wednesday, October 15, 2025. We encourage faculty to share these opportunities with their students!

Undergraduate Development Program Student Travel Award

The Undergraduate Development Program Student Travel Award supports travel and lodging for students to attend the Undergraduate Development Program, held during the SOT Annual Meeting. This three-day program (March 2123) is designed for students who are still exploring the field of toxicology and may not yet be ready to submit an abstract.

Program highlights include:

  • Interactive presentations and case studies across the breadth of toxicology

  • Guidance on graduate school and research career paths

  • Insight into education and career opportunities in various sectors

  • Mentoring from senior toxicologists, postdocs, and graduate students

  • Opportunities to meet academic program directors 

  • Attendance at the Opening Plenary Session, Poster Sessions, and other events at the Annual Meeting

This program is an ideal first step for students who want to learn more about toxicology and what it takes to pursue a research-focused career.

SOT Undergraduate Research Award (SURA)

Do you know students conducting research and ready to present their findings? The SOT Undergraduate Research Award (SURA) offers travel support to undergraduates whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at the SOT Annual Meeting.

Award benefits include:

  • Complimentary SOT Annual Meeting registration

  • Travel support (up to $800) and lodging

  • National recognition and award presentation

  • Mentor pairing with a toxicologist

  • Participation in the Undergraduate Education Program and other SOT events

Important: Abstracts must also be submitted by October 15 to be eligible.
