SOT and the San Diego Convention Center (SDCC) are following many guidelines and practices designed to protect human and environmental health during the 2022 SOT Annual Meeting. These efforts include:
- Limiting on-site meeting attendance to individuals fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (see instructions on how to provide proof of vaccination)
- Printing badges on-site, eliminating the use of mailing materials, and using recycled materials for the badges that do not require an extra plastic case. Reminder: since badge printing is occurring on-site and will involve a validation of COVID vaccination, allow ample time to acquire your badge before your first event.
- Following public health guidelines regarding mask use
- Limiting paper waste by making meeting materials available exclusively in electronic format
- Using LED light fixtures to lower electricity usage
- Composting food scraps and donating leftover meals to local charities
- Working with local charities to recycle extra materials from exhibitor booths and leftover promotional items
When on-site in San Diego, please do your part to aid these efforts by:
- Completing a self-health check daily before participating in Annual Meeting and ToxExpo activities
- Maintaining distance between yourself and fellow attendees when not engaged in direct conversations
- Bringing a refillable water bottle with you and using the bottle-filling stations located throughout the convention center
- Sorting unneeded materials into the appropriate waste receptacles (paper, recyclables, compost, and trash) throughout the convention center
- Enjoying the San Diego weather and walking—without your meeting badge and in pairs or groups for personal safety—to nearby restaurants and locations
- Sharing rides with fellow attendees to the airport, and other locations, which also is a good tip for personal safety on-site
