Throughout the year, SOT is approached by like-minded organizations to lend its support to varying issues and recommendations. This blog contains a summary of recent actions by SOT related to regulations and public policy.

NIH ECHO Program Funding Recommendation for FY 2026

On May 22, 2025, SOT joined more than 20 organizations in signing letters addressed to the Chairs and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations and Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies in support of funding for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Program. Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the ECHO Program and its efforts to understand the effects of a broad range of early environmental influences on child health and development, including socioeconomic status, family support, biological factors, nutrition, and physical and chemical exposures. You can read the complete letter to the House Committee and Subcommittee and letter to the Senate Committee and Subcommittee on the SOT website.

Remember that you can view recent SOT statements and policy activities on the “SOT Statements” web page. You also can find a historical record of policy activities and SOT documents, such as Annual Business Meeting presentations and Annual Meeting publications, on the “Publications and Historical Documents” web page.
