Recognizing that shifts in the government and economic landscapes have negatively impacted SOT members, SOT Council, with approval from the Endowment Fund Board, is creating a Hardship Relief Temporary Endowment Fund. This fund will assist members who experienced and continue to experience interrupted employment with expenses such as Annual Meeting registration, Annual Meeting travel, and SOT dues payment.

The goal is to raise at least $10,000, which is the minimum required to create a Temporarily Restricted Endowment Fund. What’s more, SOT Council has committed to matching up to $10,000 of funds received within the first three years. Per the fund’s resolution, it will be open for donations for five years, with funds expended in less than 10 years.

This campaign will utilize the new GiveSmart platform, making it easier than ever to donate, with options for payment by credit card and Google Pay.

We hope that you will consider giving to this important endeavor to support fellow SOT members. The more that we can raise, the more we will be able to help!

For those experiencing hardship, an application will open in early 2026 with a February 1, 2026, deadline. Application criteria will include proof of employment termination from January 1, 2025, or later; attestation of continued unemployment; Full or Associate SOT membership since at least January 1, 2024; attendance at a previous SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo; and attestation of intention to renew SOT membership. Payments will either be made in-kind (for dues or Annual Meeting registrations) or via check to be picked up at the Annual Meeting (for Annual Meeting travel expenses).
