NPAW 2025

National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) is coming up September 15–19, 2025, and the SOT Postdoctoral Assembly (PDA) is celebrating with a special “Bench to Benefit” campaign highlighting the real-world impact of postdoctoral research in toxicology.

This year’s NPAW theme is “Communicating Your Science and Research,” and we’re inviting postdocs in the SOT community to take part by submitting a short video (30 seconds to 1 minute) answering the question: How will your research benefit or how has it already benefited society?

Whether you’re working in public health, environmental safety, pharmaceutical development, or another area of toxicology, this is your opportunity to share the bigger picture of your work and how it makes a difference.

Videos will be featured on the SOT social media accounts throughout NPAW to spotlight the contributions of postdocs across the field.

You can share:

  • A specific way your work contributes to public health, the environment, industry, or policy

  • A personal motivation behind your research

  • An example of how your research has already had a positive impact

Example script ideas to get started:

  • “My research focuses on [topic], which helps ensure safer [example] by…”

  • “By studying [your area], I hope to improve our understanding of [societal issue] and help guide better decision-making in…”

  • “One way my work has benefited society is…”

Tips:

  • Record a 30–60 second video

  • Film vertically on your phone in a quiet, well-lit space

  • Speak clearly and naturally—this doesn’t need to be perfect or edited!

  • Answer the question in your own voice and style

  • Avoid background music or filters

  • If possible, wear something professional or lab-related

Submit your video by September 5 to Jenna Pelsey.

SOT is proud to support postdoctoral scholars and amplify the impact of their work. We can’t wait to hear your stories and share them with the broader toxicology community during NPAW!
