NIOSH, US EPA, and the USDA Have Opportunities Available to Serve on Advisory Panels, Boards, and Committees

Within the last month the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) has issued a number of calls for experts to serve on various committees and panels, while the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) also is looking for individuals to serve on its Board of Scientific Counselors. Also, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended its nomination deadline for its National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods.

NIOSH Board of Scientific Counselors

NIOSH is seeking nominations for individuals to serve on its Board of Scientific Counselors. Specifically, the institute is looking for expertise in occupational medicine, occupational nursing, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, engineering, toxicology, chemistry, safety and health education, ergonomics, epidemiology, biostatistics, psychology, wellness, research translation, and evaluation. Nominations are due April 19.

US EPA Clean Air Act Advisory Committee

The US EPA is requesting nominations for individuals to serve on its Clean Air Act Advisory Committee. This committee “provides advice, information, and recommendations on policy and technical issues associated with implementation of the Clean Air Act.” Nominations are due April 30.

US EPA Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act Scientific Advisory Panel

The US EPA is looking for ad hoc reviewers for the agency’s reevaluation of 11 atrazine microcosm and mesocosm studies. This review will assist the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act Scientific Advisory Panel. Nominations are due April 24.

US EPA National Advisory Committee and the Governmental Advisory Committee

The US EPA needs to fill vacancies on its National Advisory Committee and Governmental Advisory Committee. These groups advise the US EPA administrator in issues related to the administrator’s responsibilities as US Representative to the Commission for Environmental Cooperation. Nominations are due May 19.

USDA National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods

The USDA has announced that it is extending the nomination deadline for experts for its National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods to April 17.
