Each month, SOT provides an update on activities and events of importance to the toxicology community through the release of the “Around the World of Toxicology” blog. To submit an event, opportunity, or information for consideration for inclusion in the monthly “Around the World of Toxicology” blog, complete the special submission form for “Around the World of Toxicology” items. Please note that only activities by societies and professional associations (i.e., nonprofits) will be considered. American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT)

Alongside the European Association of Poison Control Centers as part of a new “Transatlantic Toxicology Talks Series,” ACMT is hosting a webinar titled “Utilizing Fomepizole in Acetaminophen Poisoning” on February 5. The is a free, 90-minute event.

Environmental & Occupational Medicine, Addiction Medicine, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and Research” are the four topical tracks for the ACMT Annual Scientific Meeting being held April 12–14 in Washington, DC. The meeting will be preceded by two day-long symposiums: “Antidote Shortages: Impact & Response” on April 10 and “Substance Use Disorder in Adolescents and Young Adults: Unique Challenges.” Early-Bird registration ends February 20.

American College of Toxicology (ACT)

“Toxicology for Pharmaceutical and Regulatory Scientists” is the title of an in-person educational course being hosted April 8–12 by ACT. The course is being held at the Hyatt Regency Dulles in Herndon, Virginia. The early-bird registration deadline is January 11.

American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA)

The 2024 Occupational and Environmental Exposure of Skin to Chemicals (OEESC) conference, hosted by AIHA, will be held September 23–25 in Herndon, Virginia. The call for proposals for the meeting is currently open.

British Society of Toxicological Pathology (BSTP)

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during the last two weeks of February, BSTP is hosting a virtual Continuing Education Symposium titled “Digestive System.” The course has been approved by the Royal Society of Biology for 63 credits, while attendance certificates will denote 21 hours of educational activity. The early-bird registration deadline is January 26.

British Toxicology Society (BTS)

The 2024 BTS Annual Congress will be held April 15–17 at the Spaces at the Spine, Liverpool, L7 3FA, United Kingdom. The Continuing Education Programme, which precedes the main Congress, will discuss endocrine disruption while the Congress programme includes nine symposia, oral and poster communications, a Study Directors’ workshop, Specialty Section roundtable discussions, and award lectures. The symposia include reprotoxicology, regulatory issues, and developments; risk assessment case studies; risk assessment of psychedelic drugs; advances in persistence and bioaccumulation assessment; medicines safety and preclinical models; and new modalities, a mechanistic focus. The abstract submission deadline is January 24, with an early-bird registration deadline of March 15.

Federation of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX)

EUROTOX is forming an Early Career Forum and is looking for volunteers to serve as the core leadership team (Chair, Co-Chair/Chair-Elect, Secretary, and five Officers) for this new group. The application deadline is January 15.

The next webinar in the EUROTOX Faculty Series is January 17 and will feature SOT member Marc Pallardy giving a presentation titled “Understanding Immunotoxicology.” Registration is free but limited to the first 100 people that sign up.

Registration and abstract submissions for EUROTOX 2024 are now open. The 58th Congress of the European Societies of Toxicology is taking place September 8–11 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The theme is “Toxicology—A Quest for Safer Chemicals and Medicines).” The abstract submission deadline is March 28.

Looking one more year ahead, EUROTOX 2025 is scheduled for September 14–17, 2025, in Athens, Greece. The Scientific Program Committee is soliciting proposals for scientific sessions and continuing education courses. The submission deadline is March 1.

International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX)

IUTOX is seeking nominations for the IUTOX Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honors a scientist who has made lasting contributions to toxicology in countries where toxicology is underrepresented. The nomination deadline is January 26, and the award recipient will be honored during the 12th Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries, taking place April 15–18, 2024, in Santiago, Chile

A call for proposals has been issued for the IUTOX 17th International Congress of Toxicology (ICTXVII), which is being co-hosted by the Chines Society of Toxicology and will take place October 15–18, 2025, in Beijing, China. The meeting theme is “Toxicology for Safe Environment & Health Life.” Session proposals submissions are due March 1, 2024.

National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)

The NIEHS Partnerships for Environmental Health network is hosting a meeting February 20–22 focused on “Climate Change and Environmental Justice: Engaging Diverse Teams.” Taking place in Durham, North Carolina, the event will feature workshops and poster sessions. Registration to attend is free.
