Each month, SOT provides an update on activities and events of importance to the toxicology community through the release of the “Around the World of Toxicology” blog. Please note that only activities by societies and professional associations (i.e., nonprofits) will be considered. Reminders of Upcoming, Previously Featured Deadlines and Activities
- Applications for the AAAS and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) Course on Diplomacy are due February 5.
- Proposals for the 2024 Occupational and Environmental Exposure of Skin to Chemicals (OEESC) conference, hosted by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), are due February 13.
- The National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Partnerships for Environmental Health network is hosting a meeting February 20–22 focused on “Climate Change and Environmental Justice: Engaging Diverse Teams.”
- For six days between February 20 and 29, the British Society of Toxicological Pathology (BSTP) is hosting a virtual Continuing Education Symposium titled “Digestive System.”
- March 1 is the deadline to submit a scientific session and/or continuing education course proposals for EUROTOX 2025, which is scheduled for September 14–17, 2025, in Athens, Greece.
- Proposals for the IUTOX 17th International Congress of Toxicology (ICTXVII), which is being co-hosted by the Chinese Society of Toxicology and will take place October 15–18, 2025, in Beijing, China, are due March 1, 2024.

Activity Announcements, Updates, and Opportunities
European Society of Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV)
The late-breaking abstract submission deadline for the ESTIV 22nd International Congress is February 29. The congress is taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, June 3–6, 2024, and early-bird rates can be secured through April 11.

Japanese Society of Toxicology (JSOT)
Abstract submission and registration are open for the JSOT 51st Annual Meeting. The abstract submission deadline is March 1, while the early-bird registration deadline for the meeting taking place July 3–5, 2024, in Fukuoka, Japan, is May 10.

National Association for Biomedical Research (NABR)
On Tuesday, April 16, Jerrold Tannenbaum returns to the NABR webinar series with a presentation titled “One Health and Animal Research: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.” This webinar will describe the crucial role laboratory animal research played in the development of the concept of One Medicine, which is the historical precursor of One Health and one of the most influential organizing concepts in the medical sciences.

Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention (BDRP)
The abstract submission deadline for the BDRP 64th Annual Meeting is February 15, with the Student and Postdoctoral Fellow Travel Award application deadline following a week later on February 22. The 2024 BDRP meeting is taking place Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
