To facilitate long-term member engagement, SOT has a longstanding dues waiver program. The Society grants dues waivers for two types of circumstances: temporary employment interruption and financial hardship.
Dues Waiver for Temporary Employment Interruption
A Full or Associate SOT member in good standing whose employment is temporarily interrupted may apply for a waiver of dues for a one-year period. A dues waiver may be renewed for an additional year upon reapplication.
Eligible members desiring a dues waiver for temporary employment interruption must submit a written request to SOT Headquarters that includes a description of the most recent employment history.
Dues Waiver for Financial Hardship
A Full or Associate SOT member in good standing whose circumstances have resulted in a significant financial hardship may receive a one-time dues waiver for hardship reasons over their SOT membership lifetime. The cause of such financial hardship can be any significant circumstance beyond or in addition to unemployment. Hardship dues waivers are granted for a one-year period.
Eligible members desiring a hardship dues waiver for financial hardship must submit a written request to SOT Headquarters that includes a description of the hardship’s nature or cause and duration.
Terms of Dues Waivers
Requests for all dues waivers—both those for temporary employment interruption and those for financial hardship—will be maintained confidentially and reviewed individually by the SOT Membership Committee for recommendation to SOT Council.
Members granted dues waivers will continue to receive Toxicological Sciences electronically, as well as other SOT publications, and will be permitted to submit abstracts and register for the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo at the member rate.
