Around the World of Toxicology: October 2025 Partner Activities Update

Each month, SOT provides an update on activities and events of importance to the toxicology community through the release of the “Around the World of Toxicology” blog. To submit an event, opportunity, or information for consideration for inclusion in the monthly “Around the World of Toxicology” blog, complete the special submission form for “Around the World of Toxicology” items. Please note that only activities by societies and professional associations (i.e., nonprofits) will be considered. If you are an organization or company seeking to promote an event, please submit your activity to the SOT “Calendar of Events.”

Reminders of Upcoming, Previously Featured Deadlines and Activities

  • The call for proposals for EUROTOX 2026, taking place in Vienna September 13–16, 2026, is open and will end on November 15. The theme for EUROTOX 2026 is “Toxicology Without Borders.”

  • ACMT is hosting a two-day virtual course on psychedelics on October 10 and 17, 2025, that will dive into the pharmacology, clinical applications, safety, and ethics of psychedelics like psilocybin, MDMA, and ketamine.

  • BTS and the Cambridge Academy of Therapeutic Sciences (CATS) are hosting an in-person course titled “Practical Application of Toxicology in Drug Development” October 20–24, 2025.

  • In partnership with the Center for Forensic Science Research & Education (CFSRE), ACMT is hosting the bi-yearly Seminar in Forensic Toxicology on January 20–21, 2026.

Activity Announcements, Updates, and Opportunities

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)

The 49th annual AAAS Science & Technology Policy Forum is taking place October 22–24, 2025. This event at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda, Maryland (right outside Washington, DC), is designed for policymakers, researchers, scientists, industry professionals, science journalists, and others invested in the implementation and regulation of science policy.

International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX)

The just released IUTOX Presidents Message previews the upcoming 17th International Congress of Toxicology (ICTXVII), taking place this month in Beijing, China. It also discusses the early plans for the next Risk Assessment Summer School (RASS), scheduled for November 2026 in Kuala Lumpur.

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)

NINDS is hosting a hybrid workshop January 13–14, 2026, titled “Advancing Exposome Research in Neurological Disorders and Stroke.” Taking place in Rockville, Maryland, the meeting features SOT member speakers and will center on understanding the interaction of exposome factors and their composite effect across the lifespan on neurological disorders and on neurological resilience.
