I, along with Faculty United for Toxicology Undergraduate Recruitment and Education (FUTURE) Committee Co-Chair Larissa Williams, welcomed the SOT Undergraduate Research Award recipients on Saturday, March 13, to get their Virtual SOT Annual Meeting participation off to a great start. Wearing their “Let’s Talk Toxicology” T-shirts, the students introduced themselves to one another and got tips for participating in the meeting. Watch for the award ribbon on their posters, which they will be attending during the scheduled chat times during the meeting.
Four SOT members are mentoring the students: Marie Bourgeois, Katie Paul Friedman, Wilson Rumbeiha, and Susan Tilton. They conferred with the students before the meeting and will meet with them during and afterward. FUTURE thanks them for providing additional networking during this Virtual Meeting.
On Saturday, the students also attended the “Introduction to Toxicology” presentation by Marquea King, hosted by the Committee on Diversity Initiatives. They will participate in additional undergraduate activities as well as scientific, poster, and networking sessions during the meeting.
