The 2025 SOT Endowment Annual Report highlights the generosity of SOT members and friends in supporting long-term investment in the careers of toxicologists and activities that meet the Society’s strategic goals. With prudent oversight by the Endowment Fund Board and SOT Council, the Endowment Fund balance reached $6.1 million at the June 2025 year-end.
During the 2024–2025 fiscal year, SOT disbursed more than $173,000 from the SOT Endowment Funds, including awards to more than 177 scientists (predominantly trainees), as well as funding for multiple SOT programs. You can learn more about the awardees on the recognition web page.
In the previous fiscal year, donors established the McKeeman Early Career Award in Mechanistic Toxicology Endowment Fund, a new named fund administered by the Drug Discovery and Mechanisms Specialty Sections. Once this fund reaches permanent status, it will fund awards that encourage continued research and highlight the meritorious achievements of early career scientists. This fund is one of 55 named funds recognizing illustrious SOT members and groups and providing support for the activities of 29 Component Groups, SOT Council, and SOT Committees. In addition, three Mission Funds—Education, Global, and Strategic Priorities—offset costs for activities that are critical to the SOT mission.
Supporting the Endowment is easier than ever, through either the giving form on the web or through the website of the Component Group administering the chosen fund. Remember, too, that through planned giving opportunities, you can make a gift that costs nothing during your lifetime. Other ways to support the Endowment include stock transfers and qualified charitable distributions.
Contributing to the Endowment Fund is not just about donating, it is a powerful way of showing your confidence in what we can achieve together at SOT.
