The future of toxicology depends on the scientists we inspire and support today.

To expand educational opportunities for students and early career scientists, SOT has launched the Education Mission Fund Expansion Campaign—an ambitious effort to strengthen the Society’s ability to support training, mentorship, and professional development across the field for generations to come.

The Education Mission Fund supports programs that introduce students to toxicology and help scientists build successful careers through programs such as travel grants for graduate students to attend the SOT Annual Meeting and research opportunities for undergraduates through the SOT Summer Internship Program.

A Bold Goal

The Education Mission Fund currently stands at approximately $200,000. Through this campaign, SOT aims to grow the fund to $1.2–$1.5 million over the next three to five years. The goal is to ensure that the educational activities SOT values most are supported in perpetuity.

Honoring Leaders in Toxicology

A central component of the campaign is the Honorary Giving Campaign, which allows donors to contribute in honor of individuals or institutions who have made meaningful contributions to toxicology.

Three honorific recognitions have already been established, recognizing Anthony M. Ndifor, Richard E. Peterson, and William Slikker Jr., with additional honorees in development. Dr. Slikker’s honorific has reached the maximum gift, but the others are open for giving.

Each honorary campaign seeks to reach $50,000 in cumulative gifts. When that milestone is reached, the honoree’s name becomes permanently associated with the Education Mission Fund.

To accelerate progress, SOT will provide a matching contribution of up to $10,000 once a campaign reaches $40,000. Matching funds are available for up to 10 honorees.

Recognizing Donors

All donors will be recognized on the SOT Endowment Fund Honor Roll of Contributors on the SOT website.

Donors who contribute $500 or more to a named honoree campaign will also be invited to attend the SOT President’s Reception during the campaign.

Contributions to the SOT Endowment Fund are tax-deductible, as SOT is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization.

Be Part of the Future of Toxicology

By supporting the Education Mission Fund, donors help create opportunities for students, strengthen the scientific workforce, and ensure the continued advancement of toxicology.
