The 2027 SOT Award Season Is Here!

By Reza Rasoulpour posted 21 days ago

The 2027 SOT Award Season has begun, and now is the time to recognize the scientists, mentors, students, and colleagues whose work continues to strengthen and advance the field of toxicology.

Each year, SOT honors outstanding achievements across the discipline through a wide range of awards supported by SOT Committees, Component Groups, and related organizations. These awards celebrate excellence in research, education, service, leadership, mentorship, risk assessment, regulatory toxicology, and other important areas of the science. Many award recipients will be recognized during the 2027 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, taking place March 1417, 2027, in San Antonio, Texas.

Those interested in applying for an award or nominating a colleague should review the individual award descriptions and requirements on the SOT Awards web page. Because deadlines, eligibility criteria, and submission materials vary, applicants and nominators are encouraged to begin preparing early.

Deadlines and Distribution

SOT distributes hundreds of awards annually, with many presented during the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. Some awards require nominations, while others involve formal applications. Annual Meetingrelated award deadlines range from October through February, so applicants should review each award page carefully.

Types of Awards

  • SOT Awards: Presented by the SOT Awards Committee and other Society Committees, these awards honor members whose work has advanced toxicology through scientific achievement, leadership, education, mentoring, service, and related contributions. Many applications and nominations are due October 9.

  • Undergraduate Student Awards: These opportunities support undergraduate students who are building their interest in toxicology and preparing to engage with the broader scientific community. Student applications are due October 16.

  • Abstract and Travel Awards: Award opportunities connected to Annual Meeting participation can be found by searching “travel” on the SOT Awards page. Many require an abstract submission, and deadlines vary by award.

  • SOT Component Group Awards: Regional Chapters, Special Interest Groups, and Specialty Sections also offer awards that recognize accomplishments across the toxicology community, especially among graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Deadlines vary by group.

Supporting the Future of Toxicology

Many of these awards are made possible through the support of the SOT Endowment Fund. To help sustain these programs and further the Society’s mission to advance toxicology, consider making a contribution to the Endowment Fund.

We encourage members to explore the available award opportunities and help recognize the colleagues, students, and mentors making meaningful contributions to the toxicology community.
