Call for Volunteers for Inclusion, Diversity, and Engagement Committee Activities at 2025 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo: Applications Due November 27

The SOT Inclusion, Diversity, and Engagement Committee (IDEC) is seeking volunteers interested in assisting with activities for undergraduate students at the SOT 64th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo in Orlando, FL.
 
If you are interested in volunteering, please complete this brief application form before November 27 to indicate your interest and availability.
 

Opportunities to Volunteer

  • Host and Peer Mentors serving from Saturday through Monday (Undergraduate Diversity Program) will establish mentoring relationships with the students as part of the program in advance of the Annual Meeting and extending into the future.
  • Host and Peer Mentors work with students on a
    case study during the Undergraduate Education Program
    at the 2024 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo
    Some Host and Peer Mentors will serve on Sunday only with students who register for the Sunday activities (Undergraduate Education Program).
  • Poster Group Leaders facilitate the visits of the Undergraduate Diversity Program participants to Scientific Sessions and posters on Monday afternoon. 
  • Career Roundtable Facilitators will talk informally with the undergraduate program participants for one hour on Sunday afternoon so that students learn about different career paths.
  • Graduate School Breakout Facilitators will talk informally with the undergraduate program participants for 45 minutes on Sunday afternoon so that students learn about what life is like in graduate school and how to be successful in applying.
  • Grad School Volunteers for the Undergrad Gab with a Grad Over Grub on Tuesday afternoon will be paired with small groups of undergraduate students so that they can learn firsthand about the graduate school experience and opportunities offered by SOT.
 

Volunteers may apply for one or more volunteer roles. The requirements for each role are:  

  • Host Mentor: Career toxicologist
  • Peer Mentor: Graduate student or postdoc (undergraduate students may be selected to serve as Peer Mentors if they are Undergraduate Diversity Program alum)
  • Poster Group Leader: Career toxicologists will be matched with graduate students and postdocs to lead groups
  • Career Roundtable Facilitator: Career toxicologists in academia, industry, and government
  • Graduate School Breakout Facilitators: Graduate program directors or advisors and graduate students
  • Grad School Volunteers for Undergrad Gab with a Grad Over Grub: Graduate student members
