Coming Soon: New Resource for Children’s Health Researchers

By Marcia Lawson posted 03-10-2016 08:18

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) established the Children’s Health Exposure Analysis Resource (CHEAR) to advance our understanding of how the environment impacts children’s health and development.

CHEAR will provide National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded children’s health researchers access to analyses of environmental exposures at no cost to the investigator. This includes laboratory and data analytical services for targeted and untargeted assessment of a broad range of environmental exposures and associated biological response indicators in biological samples.

The eligibility criteria are relatively straightforward; potential CHEAR users include investigators with an NIH-funded children's health study with available human biological samples who would like to add environmental exposure measures. CHEAR expects to begin accepting initial applications in the summer of 2016. The application process is currently under development, but includes a brief justification and description of the project, the samples, and the intended analysis.

To learn more and to sign up to receive CHEAR updates, please visit the CHEAR website.
