US EPA’s Office of Research Development (ORD) National Center for Computational Toxicology (NCCT) is seeking a nationally and internationally recognized authority and leader in computational or medicinal chemistry. Candidates must have in-depth expertise and knowledge of toxicology and advanced skills in the development of frameworks for applying computational or medicinal chemistry approaches of toxicity prediction. In addition to conducting and leading computational/medicinal chemistry research, the individual in this position is expected to: 

  • Work with US EPA senior leadership to provide technical direction that integrates ORD’s chemical safety and  sustainability research across Agency initiatives, and establishes a robust scientific capacity that supports multidisciplinary Agency applications. 
  •  Use his or her expertise to help the Agency identify critical research and technical issues involved with the design of greener products.
  • Communicate complex scientific concepts to a broad range of stakeholders, partners, and interested parties. 
  •  Serve as a senior advisor to NCCT and ORD on computational or medicinal chemistry issues related to exposure and effects of environmental and industrial chemicals.
  •  Provide guidance, training, and support in these subject areas to scientists throughout US EPA in their application to risk assessment and agency policy-setting.
  • Represent the NCCT, ORD, and the Agency in relevant outside activities, particularly in the translation of these activities to the fields of toxicology, exposure science, and risk assessment.
