In response to a membership-expressed desire to include more timely research in our Annual Meeting, the Society of Toxicology (SOT) will be building on the pilot conducted during the 2018 Annual Meeting and will be offering at least one Hot Topic Session at the 2019 Annual Meeting in Baltimore. The 2018 Hot Topic Session on Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) was organized by SOT Council in collaboration with the Scientific Program Committee. For the  2019 Annual Meeting, a call for proposals will be released no later than Friday, December 7, 2018, and will be due by Friday, January 4, 2019.

The Hot Topic Session will be programmed as a 90-minute session on Tuesday afternoon. Proposal topics should focus on toxicology-related issues that have either arisen since the deadline for regular session proposals (May 15, 2018) or have peaked with regards to interest on the part of the scientific community and/or public. As with other 90-minute sessions, proposals should include the names and affiliations of the session chair and two or three presenters (no more than three presenters), an abstract describing the overall session, as well as abstracts for each presentation topic.

Presenters who are members of the SOT will not be eligible for travel support; up to two non-members will be eligible for support. Proposals should be submitted as an MS Word document (use of the Oasis-provided proposal submission site is not required) and will be evaluated by the Scientific Program Committee in January. The Hot Topic Session offers an opportunity for the presentation and discussion of the timeliest toxicology-related science at the SOT Annual Meeting. More information will be forthcoming in the call for proposals. Please consider submitting a proposal.
