The SOT 59th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo is quickly approaching, and many new items are in store for the 2020 Annual Meeting that are intended to facilitate and optimize the meeting experience for attendees.

Childcare Program

A childcare program is being piloted in 2020 that is designed to assist parents and guardians traveling to the Annual Meeting with children between the ages of six months and 12 years. SOT has contracted with KiddieCorp, a premier provider of children’s program services during events, to offer a service where children will be able to participate in appropriate activities for each age group, including arts and crafts, music, story time, and group games. The program will take place at the Anaheim Marriott from Sunday, March 15, through Wednesday, March 18.

The cost to participate in the childcare program will be $12.00 per hour per child. To allow SOT and KiddieCorp to ascertain demand, the early enrollment deadline for the childcare program is January 10.

TOX Presentation Corner

The ToxExpo Exhibit Hall will feature the TOX Presentation Corner in 2020, a new venue where attendees can stop by during ToxExpo hours to listen to and engage with short presentations that:

  • Provide Training on topics such as grant funding
  • Highlight Opportunities for career development and transitions
  • Foster eXchanges of science and ideas

These presentations are scheduled to occur during ToxExpo hours (9:00 am–4:30 pm) from Monday, March 16, through Wednesday, March 18. The specific timing and details for each presentation will be available in the Online Planner on the Annual Meeting website and in the SOT Event App.2018 Blood Drive.png

Blood Drive

Returning for the second time in 2020, the Blood Drive will offer an opportunity for Annual Meeting attendees to participate in a philanthropic activity, either by appointment or by drop-in. The Blood Drive will take place on Tuesday, March 17, and Wednesday, March 18, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm in the ToxExpo Exhibit Hall.

Plenary Session—“Precisely Practicing Medicine from 700 Trillion Points of Data”

Historically scheduled for Monday morning during the Annual Meeting, this year’s Plenary Session—which will feature a presentation by Atul Butte of the University of California San Francisco—will take place at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 16.

SOT Code of Conduct Policy

Adopted on November 4, 2019, the SOT Code of Conduct policy will be in full effect during the 2020 Annual Meeting and reflects the Society’s commitment to providing a safe and productive environment for all its meetings—one that fosters open dialogue, the free exchange of scientific ideas, and the promotion of equal opportunity and that is free of any sort of harassment, coercion, and discrimination. The policy includes a definition of harassment and the means by which such harassment may be reported.
