New Orleans Begins Daylight Savings on March 13

New Orleans uses Central Daylight Time, which starts on March 13. We know you will want to be on time for the great programs and activities ahead. For some, this may mean a louder alarm and a scheduled wake-up call.

Welcome Arriving SOT Annual Meeting Attendees

Now you have arrived at this beautiful and historic city that is extending a warm welcome to you—from the billboard at the airport to the signs handing from lampposts surrounding the Convention Center.  Just as SOT 2015‒2016 President Peter L. Goering has exclaimed “Laissez les bon temps rouler,” Let the good times roll.

Rise and Shine for the Continuing Education Sunrise Mini-Course

This SOT Continuing Education Course provides an opportunity for a short course on the “Basic Principles and Practices for Applying Epigenetics in Mechanistic Toxicology.” This course provides useful insights for those toxicologists interested in integrating epigenetic approaches into their current or future toxicological studies. Space is available.

It’s Not Too Late: Morning Continuing Education Courses Are Set to Begin

From 8:15 am‒12:00 noon, there are a number of Continuing Education courses that may be of particular interest to you . Although there may be space available, registration is required. All courses are on the second floor of the Convention Center.

Don’t Miss This Opportunity: Afternoon Continuing Education Courses Are Set to Begin

From 1:15 pm‒5:00 pm, there are six more Continuing Education Courses that will be of particular value to you now and in the days ahead. There is still time to register for courses that range from “Genetics and Population Variability in Chemical Toxicity” to “Zebrafish As a Tool in Toxicology and Drug Discovery Screening.” All courses are on the second floor of the Convention Center.

Welcome to Participants in the Sunday Undergraduate Education Program

Registration is required for this event for undergraduates to participate in a special introduction to topics in various toxicology disciplines to be held in room 275 of the convention center. Students discuss with graduate students and academic program directors how to submit strong graduate school applications and succeed in graduate school, as well as learning the merits of specific graduate programs. They also network with SOT mentors and toxicologists in various employment sectors to become more familiar with what life is like in different career paths in toxicology.

Join in Paying Tribute to 2016 Honorees At the Awards Ceremony

All attendees are welcome to the Awards Ceremony held in Great Hall B of the convention center from 4:45 pm to 6:30 pm. Enjoy a pre-ceremony musical performance by fierce and sultry saxophonist Clarence Johnson III. SOT honors our 2016 Honorary Member, SOT award recipients, and our supported award recipients at the SOT Award Ceremony. For detailed information about these awards and recipients, please visit the SOT website.

Welcome Reception: See Long-Standing Friends and Make New Ones

The SOT Annual Meeting is always a great place to reconnect with friends and colleagues from every stage of your career. With scientists attending from more than 50 countries from around the globe, you may find yourself meeting someone for the first time face-to-face whose work is well known to you.

Network with Your Peers at the Student/Postdoctoral Scholar Mixer: Ticket Required

The SOT Graduate Student Leadership Committee hosts this well-attended, well-received event that provides an informal venue for students and postdoctoral scholars to gather, meet new colleagues, and reestablish relationships at the beginning of the Annual Meeting. This year’s mixer will be held from 7:30 pm‒9:30 pm in La Novelle Orleans, Ballroom B of the Convention Center.
