UK Committee on Novel Food and Processes Seeks Nominations for Members

The Advisory Committee on Novel Foods and Processes (ACNFP) is a non-statutory, independent body of scientific experts that advises the Food Standards Agency on any matters relating to novel foods (including genetically modified foods) and novel processes (including food irradiation). The ACNFP is seeking nominations for members and complete application information is available on the ACNFP website.

The five vacancies are for experts in the following fields:

  •  Allergy—one expert with clinical experience and one with expertise in plant science
  •  Microbiology with particular emphasis on the gut
  •  Molecular biology
  •  Toxicology

Appointments are for a term of from one to three years and will be made strictly on merit by fair and open process in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code of Practice and taking account of equal opportunities. Successful applicants will be required to declare any interest that may be relevant to the work of the Committee. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday, February 22, 2016.
