On June 6, 2017, the US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) published a Federal Register Notice for both the meeting and seeking nominees to serve as ad hoc expert members of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Science Advisory Panel (FIFRA SAP) on Development of Alternative High-Throughput Screens.
The FIFRA SAP serves as the primary scientific peer review mechanism of the US EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety & Pollution Prevention and is structured to provide scientific advice, information, and recommendations to the EPA Administrator on pesticides and pesticide-related issues as to the impact of regulatory actions on health and the environment.
The 3-day meeting of the FIFRA SAP to consider and review the Continuing Development of Alternative High-Throughput Screens to Determine Endocrine Disruption, Focusing on Androgen Receptor, Steroidogenesis, and Thyroid Pathways will be held November 28–30, 2017, from approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The expertise sought for this meeting includes scientists who have sufficient professional qualifications, including training and experience, to be capable of providing expert comments on the following issues: development of computational models, high-throughput assays, as well as biostatistics and performance-based validation, along with expertise in relation to toxicology, physiology, biochemistry, endocrinology (clinical and research), epidemiology, with an emphasis on androgens, steroidogenesis, thyroid—particularly ways these endocrine systems can be disrupted and the means to detect disruption.
The announcement seeking panel nominees will close on July 21, 2017. Written comments should be submitted to the federal docket on or before September 28, 2017. Requests to make oral comments should be submitted on or before November 7, 2017.
