The Alda-Kavli Learning Center of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University provides resources and training opportunities—many for free—year-round. Through monthly webinars, leaders in the field of science communication offer guidance and expertise “for scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals, and others to continue to learn about and improve their communication style,” according to the center’s web page.

One such webinar, taking place on Wednesday, April 22, from 3:30 pm to 4:45 pm (ET), will explore “The A.R.T. of Connecting: Overcome Boredom and Engage Any Audience” and will offer training on how to present scientific information in an engaging way such that “the audience accepts, retains, and takes action on the information presented.” Consult the webinar web page for registration information—space for this event is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to upcoming events, archived recordings of Alda-Kavli Learning Center webinars, presented on a variety of topics related to science communication, are available on the “Webinars” web page anytime. These past events explore topics of interest to investigators, such as “Eleven Principles for Communicating Science to Get Results” and “An Evidence-Based Approach to Science Communication.”
