Bio

Haiyan Tong, MD, PhD, is a Principal Investigator at the Clinical Research Branch, Public Health and Integrated Toxicology Division, Center for Public Health and Environmental Assessment, US Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Tong received her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and has completed postdoctoral training at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, National Institutes of Health. Before joining US EPA in 2006, she was a faculty member at the Duke University Medical Center.  Dr. Tong is a joint faculty in the Curriculum in Toxicology and Environmental Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Dr. Tong’s research focuses on studying the cardiovascular effects of air pollution exposure and intervention strategies that can mitigate these effects, specially, she has demonstrated that dietary intervention provides beneficial effects to air pollution exposure.
