Dr Barbara Wetmore, PhD

Dr. Wetmore is a Toxicologist in the Center for Computational Toxicology and Exposure within the Office of Research and Development at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Her current research focuses on the development and assessment of New Approach Methods (NAMs) that harness in vitro data and in silico modeling for human health evaluations of commercial chemicals and emerging contaminants. She specializes in in vitro toxicokinetics and in vitro-in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE) modeling, tools that incorporate dosimetry and population variability into in vitro evaluations to enable risk-based prioritization. Dr. Wetmore has served as a subject matter expert and on committees for a variety of organizations, including the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the European Reference Laboratory for Alternatives to Animal Testing (EURL ECVAM). She has a history of supporting SOT, primarily through service on the presidential chain for three Specialty Sections: Risk Assessment, In Vitro and Alternative Methods, and Exposure. She was a co-founder of the Exposure Specialty Section.
