J.A Garthoff, ERT (Food Safety Scientific Affairs Leader, Danone, registered toxicologist). 1988-1994: Graduated from WUR (Wageningen, NL) & McGill University (Montreal, Canada): MSc. Environmental & Occupational Hygiene & Toxicology.

 25 + years’ experience in Human risk assessment and regulatory toxicology, working for a governmental organization and industry at EU and global level. From 1994-2002: Dutch Board for the Authorization of Pesticides & Biocides, advising the board on consumer and worker safety and participating in expert meetings in the context of the European harmonization process of pesticide & biocides authorization with the placing active substances on the EU positive list 91/414. From 2002-2018 at Danone leading a team of toxicologists, responsible for food ingredient safety including food additives and nutritional ingredients (novel foods, allergens) in the general population as well as vulnerable target populations such as infants & and patients. Since 2019 coordinating Danone External engagement with different stakeholders to develop knowledge on food safety science, providing input & coordinating input from Danone experts. Has amongst others been involved in ILSI Europe, TNO and partnership with FAO on several Food Safety related projects & publications. Contributes to the translation of food safety science towards application in food safety risk assessment & management
