Due immediately are nominations for a US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) review panel and advisory committee that are especially applicable to toxicologists. Plus, there are additional opportunities for service on panels and committees of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), US Department of Health and Human Services (US HHS), US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA), and US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (US OSHA). US EPA Inorganic Arsenic Review Panel
The US EPA is accepting nominations of individuals to serve on a panel to review the draft Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Toxicological Review of Inorganic Arsenic. Nominees should have expertise in epidemiology and/or expertise in carcinogenesis, cardiovascular disease, reproductive and developmental toxicity, neurodevelopmental outcomes, and diabetes; systematic review; physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling; risk assessment; epidemiological dose-response analysis; or Bayesian statistics. US EPA Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals
The US EPA is looking to fill vacancies on its Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) by mid-2023. Nominees for the SACC should have competence, knowledge, and expertise in scientific/technical fields relevant to chemical safety and risk assessment, such as human health and ecological risk assessment, biostatistics, epidemiology, pediatrics, physiologically based pharmacokinetics, toxicology and pathology, and the relationship of chemical exposures to women, children, and other susceptible subpopulations. US CDC World Trade Center Health Program Scientific/Technical Advisory Committee
The deadline has been extended for nominations of individuals to serve on this US CDC committee that I first wrote about last month. The new nomination, including self-nominations, deadline is December 30, 2022. As a reminder, nominees for this committee should have expertise in oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, toxicology, pharmacology, addiction, epidemiology, behavioral health, or any other relevant specialty. US OSHA Advisory Committees
The US OSHA is seeking nominations for its Advisory Committee for Construction Safety and Health. Specifically, the openings that may be relevant to SOT members are:
- Representatives of state safety and health agencies
- Individuals with expertise in occupational safety and health related to the construction industry
Nominations are due January 13, 2023. More information is available in the Federal Register announcement.
The US OSHA also is looking for individuals to serve on its Maritime Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health. Nominees for this committee should have expertise in worker safety and health as it relates to maritime industries, such as shipyard, longshoring, and commercial fishing. US HHS Advisory Committee on Infant and Maternal Mortality
The US HHS Health Resources and Services Administration is accepting nominations for its Advisory Committee on Infant and Maternal Mortality. This committee is responsible for advising the US HHS Secretary on matters “directed at reducing infant mortality, maternal mortality, and severe maternal morbidity and improving the health status of infants and women before, during, and after pregnancy. US FDA Medical Devices Advisory Committee
The annual nominations notice for individuals to serve on classification panels for the US FDA Medical Devices Advisory Committee has been issued. Of particular interest are two vacancies on the Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Toxicology Panel. Nominations, including self-nominations, are due January 27, 2023.
