Please note that only activities by societies and professional associations (i.e., nonprofits) will be considered. Reminders of Previously Featured May Deadlines and Activities
- The abstract submission deadline for the 2023 North American Congress of Clinical Toxicology, hosted by the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology (AACT), is May 8.
- The early-bird registration deadline for EUROTOX 2023 is May 15.
- The next IUTOXtalks webinar is May 24 at 8:00 am (US EDT, UTC -4) and will feature Mathieu Vinken, PhD, PharmD, ERT, speaking on “Adverse Outcome Pathways as the Basis for In Vitro Prediction of Chemical-Induced Liver Toxicity.”
- The proposal deadline is May 31 for the 12th Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries (CTDCXII), taking place April 15–18, 2024, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile.
Activity Announcements, Updates, and Opportunities
American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT)
ACMT and the Israeli Society of Toxicology are hosting the Fourth Joint American-Israeli Medical Toxicology Conference November 7–9 in Haifa, Israel. Proposals for keynotes, didactic sessions, and panel discussions for the conference can be submitted until July 1. In particular, the review committee is seeking proposals for sessions on cannabis, drugs of abuse, environmental exposures, climate change, and occupational toxicology.

EUROTOX
The next event in the EUROTOX Faculty Webinar Series is May 24. Professor Shirley Price, Surrey University, United Kingdom, will answer the question, “Why is developmental and reproductive toxicity testing important in risk assessment?” The webinar is taking place from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 pm (CET, UTC +1). Registration is limited to the first 100 people.

National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
The NIEHS Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM), part of the National Toxicology Program, is hosting a Public Forum in person at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, and online May 18–19. The registration deadline to present oral comments is May 9. To attend in person, you must register by May 17, while online registration will remain open through the meeting.

US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA)
The US FDA Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee is holding a public meeting in person at its White Oak Campus in Silver Spring, Maryland, and online on May 18. On the agenda is the proposed Requirements for Tobacco Product Manufacturing Practice rule (proposed 21 CFR part 1120). The deadline has passed for requesting to submit oral comments, but written and electronic comments may be submitted until May 11.

The US FDA and HESI are hosting a workshop via webcast titled “FDA/HESI Research Roadmap Planning on Hazard and Risk Assessment of Nitrosamine Impurities in Drugs” on May 31–June 1. Through the workshop, the hosts hope to engage stakeholders with expertise in the assessment of nitrosamines, including nitrosamine drug substance–related impurities to achieve multiple objectives, including identifying short- and long-term research needs.

The 2023 FDA Science Forum will be held virtually June 13–14. This forum is an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to “learn about the critical contributions that FDA’s regulatory science makes to product quality and safety.”
