Recently, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) issued calls for feedback on a strategic plan regarding autoimmune disease research and for ad hoc reviewers of a formaldehyde risk evaluation and reports of adverse effects from a chemical substance, respectively.

NIH is developing a strategic plan to advance autoimmune disease research and would like feedback on four identified objectives. Comments are due March 1.

US EPA Formaldehyde Risk Evaluation

The US EPA is seeking scientific and technical experts to serve as ad hoc reviewers for its evaluation of formaldehyde risks. It is expected that this review will consider hazard assessments for human and ecological health, exposure, and risk characteristics. Nominations are due January 25.

US EPA Request for Records

The US EPA is asking manufacturers and processors of the 4,4′-methylene bis(2-chloroaniline) to submit records and reports of significant adverse reactions to human health or the environment from exposure to the chemical. The record submission deadline is February 26.
