I’m thrilled to announce that Rob Knight, PhD, University of California San Diego, will take the stage as this year’s Plenary speaker. A member of the National Academy of Engineering and an AAAS Fellow, Dr. Knight is a trailblazer in microbiome research. He’s known for using cutting-edge computational and experimental tools to reveal the hidden world of microbes that shape our health. Don’t miss his plenary lecture, “Long-Read Sequencing, Metabolomics, and AI Revolutionize the Search for Drug Targets and Antimicrobial Resistance Mechanisms in the Human Microbiome,” on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 8:00 am!
But that’s just the beginning. The Plenary session kicks off a week packed with discovery, featuring more than 60 Featured and Scientific Sessions. Explore the full lineup now in the brand-new 2026 SOT Online Planner—your first look at what’s ahead. And stay tuned, the companion SOT Event App launches in February 2026!
And one more thing, abstract submissions close Thursday, November 13. We can’t wait to see the groundbreaking science you’ll bring to San Diego!
