Throughout the year, SOT is approached by like-minded organizations to lend its support to varying issues and recommendations. This blog contains a summary of a recent action by SOT related to regulations and public policy.
On October 27, 2025, the Ad Hoc Group for Medical Research, comprised of 455 members including SOT, sent a letter to the Chairs and Vice Chairs of the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations, urging them to provide a robust investment in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as part of the FY 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies spending bill. As stated in the letter, “robust annual funding growth for NIH is key to improving people’s health. NIH-funded research in every state and nearly every congressional district leads to medical breakthroughs that benefit patients nationwide, advancing potential cures, treatments, and preventive strategies addressing cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, diabetes, Parkinson’s, chronic health conditions, autoimmune diseases, and the full range of other conditions that affect patients, families, and communities.
