The 2027 SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo will take place March 14–17, 2027, in San Antonio, Texas. If you will be traveling internationally to attend, now is the time to determine what travel authorization you need and begin the process.
Determine Whether You Need a Visa
Those who are not eligible for the Visa Waiver Program may need a visitor visa. Attending a scientific or professional conference is generally a permitted activity for a B-1 business visitor. Review the US Department of State visitor-visa guidance and the instructions from the US embassy or consulate where you will apply to determine the requirements that apply to you.
Request an SOT Invitation Letter
If you need a letter of invitation or other proof of participation in the SOT Annual Meeting and ToxExpo, email the SOT Registration Team.
An invitation letter can document the meeting and your planned participation, but the US Department of State does not require one when applying for a visitor visa. The letter also does not guarantee that a visa will be issued. Visa decisions are made by US consular officers.
Start Early
Visa appointment availability and processing times vary. The US Department of State advises travelers attending annual professional conferences to schedule regular visa appointments well in advance, as this type of travel does not usually qualify for an emergency expedited appointment.
Visa requirements and country-specific restrictions can change. Before applying, review the latest US visa information, check current visa appointment wait times, and follow the instructions from the US embassy or consulate where you will apply. Avoid making nonrefundable travel purchases until your visa has been issued.
