Alison H. Harrill
Over the last few months, the SOT Board of Publications (BOP) has engaged in a search to replace outgoing Toxicological Sciences Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey M. Peters. As BOP Chair, I am pleased to announce that our search has been successful, and SOT member and current ToxSci Associate Editor Alison H. Harrill, PhD, has been selected to serve as the next Editor-in-Chief, effective July 1, 2026.
Dr. Harrill is a Global Regulatory Toxicologist with Corteva Agriscience. Previously, she held positions with the US Environmental Protection Agency, the National Institutes of Health, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. With this, she brings experience spanning academia, government, nonprofit, and industry, which gives her a wide-ranging perspective on the needs, challenges, and promises of each sector.
Beyond her current service as an Associate Editor, Dr. Harrill previously served as a Deputy Editor for ToxSci. During her tenure as Deputy Editor, she instituted (and published the first) ToxPoint, managed the journal’s social media presence, and increased online engagement with journal content by starting the author profiles feature.
During the search, Dr. Harrill shared her extensive vision and philosophy for ToxSci, which begins with “positioning the journal to lead the field through a period of rapid scientific, technological, and global change. To remain the premier destination for toxicology research, ToxSci must embrace forward-thinking approaches, expand its visibility, and actively support the evolving needs of authors, reviewers, and readers that are at the heart of the ToxSci community.”
Dr. Harrill is eager to work with the existing Editorial Board, BOP, SOT Council, peer reviewers, and others to “position the journal as the place to publish high-impact and high-quality toxicological research.
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Harrill.
