In an effort to further the Society’s Strategic Priority to increase SOT’s influence through science communication, I am pleased to announce the launch of SOT TV at the SOT 59th Annual Meeting and ToxExpo. SOT TV is a video platform that will extend the reach of the Annual Meeting through daily broadcasts featuring Annual Meeting news, interviews, and debates, as well as prerecorded case studies from the field of toxicology. WE logo APPROVED-color.pngSOT is partnering with international film and broadcasting company WebsEdge during the 2020 Annual Meeting to introduce this feature.

SOT TV will serve as a medium for toxicologists from academia, government, and industry to feature their research as well as ongoing programs and initiatives that may be of interest to Annual Meeting attendees. Ranging from 40 minutes to one hour each, a new episode of SOT TV will be broadcast daily, with screenings throughout the Anaheim Convention Center, online, and on a dedicated television channel in selected guest hotel rooms. The Society also plans on repurposing content from SOT TV for sharing throughout the year on the SOT website and social media accounts to share research and information about toxicology with individuals not in attendance during the meeting.

Moving forward, WebsEdge will be contacting organizations to offer further details about SOT TV, as well as to seek their engagement in creating documentary-style reports about their work to feature on the program.

A sampling of news highlights and featured films from similar programs is available online. If your organization would like to explore featuring its work in an SOT TV program, please contact SOT TV Account Manager Annie Lyon. Please note that there is a limited number of case study slots available.

I look forward to the continued development of the Society’s communication initiatives through this exciting new component of the SOT Annual Meeting.
